Session Summary

Synopsis

The party closes the deal with Abe, accepts two quests, and learns about the seedier side of Corgelia

This Session

The Hangover

The party finds Aldran dealing with the repercussions of his night of debauchery with the three wenches. He feels a burning when he pees, his head aches, and the rope burns are prominent on his wrists, but he is otherwise unharmed. Hvitserk and Aldran discuss some tribal matters, and Hvitserk provides Aldran with a sharkstooth token making him an honorary member of his clan. After a lively debate with Hvitserk about his imminent departure for ports south - the party disembarks and delivers the 9 barrels of whiskey to Abe.

Procans Temple

While at the Snapping Line Tavern, the party is regaled with many of Abes sea stories. He passes along some interesting rumors about the mysterious woman who comes to town each full moon as well as leads on possible work while they wait for her. (approx 3 weeks)

Cleric Brinehanded

Balmaris, Egon, and Nail head to the temple of Procan north of town and they leave Aldaran there to listen to Abe's never-ending sea stories. Cleric Brinehanded tells them about an ever increasing number of missing ships and crew, most believed to be captured and drowned by the Sahuagin off the coast. There are also rumors the Sahuagin may be working with some corsairs from across the sea who know how to use the sea gates.

When asked where they acquire a potion of water breathing he says they are rare but he could provide a few for 250GP each, OR he would provide them in exchange for the parties help recovering the drowned sailors bodies taken by the Sahuagin in the waters to the east. He says an old woman living in Coregelia may also know where they could acquire more potions and perhaps even scrolls. They accept the quest and head back to the Snapping Line Tavern to pick up Aldran.

After a meal and short rest the party heads to the mining company manor south of town to inquire about employment opportunities.

Help Wanted

Dame Yarla gives them a typical dwarven welcome (rude) and nearly gets into a scuffle with Aldran after her insults hit too close to home.

Dame Yarla

Cooler heads prevail and the party decides to accept her offer of a job clearing out the silver mines a days ride to the north. The mines have reportedly come under attack by humanoids and the miners are missing. She is sending a wagon load of supplies and some miners to re-open the mine at first light on the morrow. She offers 10GP per head taken. Satisfied with having some work in line with their skills they head to the Empty Net Tavern to see what happened to the ladies. On the way there they notice they are being followed and decide to split into two groups.

The tails

Nail heads overland by the most direct route and avoids taking a tumble down the steep hill. Egon takes the coastal road and notices a strange bluish glow from the channel island as the sun begins to set. The glint appears to be coming from a small circle of standing stones mostly obscured by trees but he doesn't see a way to cross the channel to investigate further.

Aldran and Balmaris head west and debate turning back and attacking their tail. They decide to stop and rest to see if their tail does the same. He hangs back so Balmaris runs up to confront him and by a stroke of luck bribes him to not follow them.

Thirty minutes pass before they all arrive outside the Empty Net Tavern. Their tails appear to ignore them and head into the Tavern. They decide to wait a few minutes before entering and notice a two masted sloop is loading (or perhaps unloading) goods directly into the Tavern from a pier they failed to notice the night before.

That's outrageous!

While waiting to enter the Tavern they take advantage of their proximity to the old hags (Xandros) house across the street to ask about buying some potions and scrolls of water breathing. She cracks the door and speaking from the shadows sets her price at 600GP per potion. Unable to pay the price or provide anything in trade they head to the Empty Net Tavern before it gets too late.

Returning customers

Anya greets them warmly and hails the girls who quickly swarm Aldran. They notice one of the missing whiskey barrels behind the bar and give Aldran a irritated look. He shrugs and they order a round of beers while trying to locate the dwarves. Anya says they rent (and entered) a private room where they are meeting with Sammy Two Fingers a local merchant of some ill repute. The ladies escort the party to a table where they take their seats to discuss their next move.
