Editing Session 124

The two groups continue to menace each other while they catch their breaths, moments later the party launches into another round of attacks. As another pirate goes down (over the side actually to land dead in the whaleboat with Durmen) Balmaris shouts out - yield we don't want to kill you. Sigurd looks upon the remnants of her crew and stands silently her blade now at waist level. What terms do you offer then she asks? Balmaris responds asking their help getting the ship back to shore, a portion of the spoils in the hold, giving up Myra (to Halvor), then the remainder of the crew including Sigurd can take the Sea Ghost and leave port. The two groups finally settle upon a price of 500GP in loot and Myra remains a prisoner at which point Sigurd  

orders the rest of the crew to hoist sails and head back to [[Coregilia]].  

 

Only half listening to the negotiations Durmen from his vantage spot in the whaleboat shifts focus as he tries to use a combination of medicine skills and a mending spell to re-attach Rickfires arrm. Stepping back after a few minutes he admires his handiwork, the arm is loosely attached (wont rot or fall off) and Rickfire has very limited usage of it. (No weapons or tool use  

with it). Moving to the dead pirate, Durmen pulls the body over and finds a coral key about 3" around his neck which he pockets along with some loose change (Key opens chest G)  

 

Negotiations concluded Balmaris casts Channel divinity and preserve life - healing the entire party up to 1/2 HP. Entering the harbor the offshore breeze hits their faces, in better spirits now that the battle is won, they debate by which name they wish to be known by in the chronicles. After a lively discussion the come up with the name "Obsidian Order" pleased with themselves they are rudely interrupted by a now conscious and very irate Myra. Bellowing out to her crew who fail to respond promptly Myra says Halvor is paid to look the other way but is a PIA to deal with -  he sticks to the letter of the law. The party says they will eliminate the sheriff and make a better deal with the crew in exchange for a share of the profits to turn Coregila into a corsairs 'free port' with the idea of a steady stream of coin flowing in like the tide, the sail back to port.

 

The trip back is difficult to manage with such a small and inexperienced crew - Sigurd points out they need more crew to man the boat, Balmaris heals the surviving crew and Myra wakes up in the process. Demanding to be let go she offers a handsome payment for the party letting her go. Telling Sigurd to shut-up as she keeps trying to interrupt Myra re-negotiates her release for 2000GP not realizing that Sigurd had already cut a deal for 500GP for her release. Nail agrees to remains on the boat as a hostage until they are out to sea, Myra will put him ashore with 2000GP while the boatsmen tie up the Sea Ghost and disembark. 

Some of the oarsmen quickly run off into the town to find Halvor and alert him the party is trying to make a deal with Myra that. He gathers some of the town guard and rushes to pier (10 min). Realizing their plotting has likely been discovered once they hear some of the oarsmen saying 'over here - they're still on the dock!' The party quickly tires to make it look like a battle was fought, Myra escaped on the Sea Ghost, and they are treating their wounded on the dock as Halvor runs up with his guards.

 

A tense standoff ensues and the ever skeptical and strictly law abiding Halvor gets more and more frustrated with their responses. They try to convince Halvor that their agreement with Myra is a ruse to learn the whereabouts of the Sea Ghosts hiding spot and where she hides the stolen merchandise. Furthermore by working with Myra she can provide information about the how she reportedly used the Sea Elves magical gate to escape her pursuers. Halvor throws up his arms in disgust, and says enough with the lies - (He crit saves on the persuasion check) and has the party arrested and taken to the jail.

Realizing this might be their best chance to get a long rest and some time to plan their next move, the party surrenders to Havlor. They turn over their weapons to the guards while Balmaris throws Rickfire over his shoulder as they march off towards the jail escorted by six town guards. In a few hours the sun will rise and a new day will dawn in Coregilia.
