{{Session |campaign=Ivae Orr |session_date=21 April 2023 |game_date=Afternoon Wealson 4, CY621 === |synopsis=The unexpected arrival of Vellor and an army of undead complicates the party's return to Bexley |summary= Ragnum is the first to spot what he thinks is Vellors shadow in the doorway, moments later the Death Knight strides in a grim smile of recognition upon his face followed by an ancient looking mage with tightly drawn skin in sickly green robes. Ragnum demands to know what he's doing on this plane... Lord Vellor dismisses the demons with a flourish and mentions he's on the way to meet Monduiz Dephaar, and though he (Ragnum) didn't honor his knightly oath to bring him the relics hidden in the tower; he thanks the party for removing the towers wards enabling him to access the library where found the means to escape from the demi-plane prison. The party winces a bit more when Vellor mentions he's looking to recruit fresh troops to help complete his quest to exact vengeance on Ivid the Undying for his betrayal and they can accompany him should they wish to join him in his quest... With an evil smirk he motions to Grenvar to "pay the party for their services" and the mage with a look of disgust reaches inside his cloak and withdraws a small bag and tosses it on the floor before they turn and disappear into the storm. The bag contains the weapons taken from the party in Sorgen Abbey along with a tiara, shield, gems, scrolls, and potions. As the party excitedly begins counting up the loot a wounded guard stumbles forward bringing the parties attention back to the injured guardsmen in the tower. Horin looks sheepishly at him and heads over to begin healing the remainder of their ever shrinking detachment of troops. Re-equipped the party decides to re-examine Adious and Margaretes Armoire before heading back to Wanborne, after some goading from the party about his skills at finding traps... Meat heads up the ladder and promptly sets off a combination dart-acid trap when attempting to pry they armoire open with a sword. Inside he finds multiple costumes from various regions of the great kingdom. Some are richly made and suitable for Court wear while others are a mix of peasant and middle class merchant. In the base of the Armoire is a small wooden jewelry box, also locked. He brings everything downstairs and the party goes through the items. After another round of good natured but still painful reminders of his poor decision to change careers from fighter to thief, he tells everyone to step back 15' and proceeds to open the jewelry box using just the tip of the sword to pop the latch. Unfortunately just as he twists the lid open he notices some faintly scribed sigils as he sets off a glyph of warding trap resulting in a deafening thundercloud. The shakes off the effects but a few guards stumble from the wagon and collapse their ears bleeding. Horin sighs heavily and heads over to dole out more healing... As its late morning the party decides to return to Wanborne with the remaining guards and villagers who have gathered to be escorted back to Wanborne. Mourn spot a group of banners flying to the west in the direction of Whisper Mill, taken by surprise at yet another ill tiding the crowd briefly panics before Horin and Ragnum calm them down. Mourn and Laneor ride to investigate and find the banners are those of the Dwarves from Logeth Hold and whats more worrisome some from Stirkirks company. The troops are advancing to the NE and should pass just to north of town, more panicking villages arrive and ask for aid so the party tells those gathered to round up everyone and hold up in the tower. Meat and Mourn attempt to repair the broken door but end up inadvertently each others repairs (crit fail). With but little time to spare before the troops pass within 1/4 mile of the village they try again and this time manage to repair the door as a few scouts from the undead army reach the north edge of town. Mourn heads to the top of the tower and watches the army move to the North of town (@200 troops) but a small group of undead has moved into the north end of town and has attacked the elderly villagers sheltered there. Horin has had enough sheltering and marches out taunting the undead in a loud voice about how tasty he would be. The rest of the party joins him and fans out in a line to the north of the tower walking towards the homes being ransacked. Horin's turn undead destroys three Ghouls immediately while Mourn and Meat take out another two as Ragnum moves up the west side of the village to flank the Ghouls. The remaining ghouls see Horin and charge him madly but he flame-strikes another while Mourn draws back his bow and aided by voice Ragnum who is spotting his shot yells out "elevate!, right, thats it a bit more..., now!" lobs an arrow squarely into the Wights head. The excellence of the shot though is little consolation as the party realizes they will soon be overrun by a few hundred undead along with the residents. Over the din of combat - Meat speculates they can outrun the lumbering undead and still escape with the villagers on the wagon to Wanborne. Mourn argues for luring the army in a trap by drawing them into the village and sniping them from the tower. Horin is too giddy with divine power to pay any attention to the debate, while Ragnum leans towards following Horin into the horde, he realizes the villagers will likely be killed. Their musings are interrupted by what appears to be the sighting of a skeletal looking dragon darting between the clouds a few thousand feet above them. Back on the ground however.... The wight pulls out an ancient looking iron horn and blowing upon it a cacophony noise like souls screaming utters forth, moments later a reply is heard from the army to the north. With a lip smacking movement he grins evilly at the party and quickly disappears into the brush, and if an undead could seem happy - his step seems a bit more lively as he heads towards the approaching undead army. |npcs= *Grenvar *Lord Vellor *Monduiz Dephaar *Ivid the Undying }}
