Synopsis

Those that once were dead shall arise while those that live shall die in their stead...

This Session

The now barely conscious and still severely wounded Ricfire crawls across the slippery deck towards his arm, grabs it and tucks it under his body before playing dead as the battle continues to rage over him. From the boat - Balmaris casts command on the crew and tells them to "approach" so the party can climb in and escape. Shortly thereafter the boat bumps the side of the Sea Ghost as Durmen tosses tries and fails to toss Balmaris a rope to help him climb back aboard.

Anyone for BBQ?

On the fore and middeck Egon and Nail continue to fight their way through the pirates as they try to make their way to the small boat tied up to the side. As Egon turns to leap from the foredeck to the main deck to assist Nail, Punketah firebolts him before he can clear the rail. The flames wrack Egon's body and he collapses next to the railing, a dead and smoldering heap of flesh. Seeing this is too much for Ricfire and before anyone can grab him, he runs in a mad dash towards the railing and dives over the side into the cold ocean water. Balmaris and the sailors manage to pull him into the boat spluttering and fortunately still grasping his severed arm.

Nail busts a move

Barely treading water in his heavy armor Nail takes a quick glance at Aldran holding off Myra on the foredeck and Punketah on the poopdeck before deciding he will make a last stand on the middeck holding off the pirates so his friends can escape. As he sinks beneath the waves he calms his mind and body so that he can cast misty step and appears at the base of the ladder deck leading up to the foredeck. (+ 1 inspiration) With a grunt he busts the rope bonds holding his hands behind his back in time to grab a very startled boat pirate who was trying to climb the ladder and attack Aldran from behind.

Simultaneously Durmen who had been trying to move back towards the railing see's an opening between the surging pirates and Firebolts the severely wounded Fritof who's perfumed and rum soaked silk and leather attire bursts into flame. He drops to his knees and falls face first into the deck, dead. Dumen notices Punketah preparing another spell and barely alive himself leaps over the railing into the water next to the smallboat before Punketah can get his spell off. Instead Punketah magic missiles Aldran who had maneuvered to stand in front of Egons smoking corpse and continued to trade sword blows with Myra n the foredeck. Aldran absorbs the missile hits which only further angers him as he cant get to Punketah who is some 50' away at the aft of the ship while he's still occupied with Myra.

Egon the kabob

By some miracle Egon manages to make his last death save and with a surge of magical energy partially heals himself. As he begins to get up from the deck, Myra says "your not going anywhere" and skewer's him to the deck with her long sword which sends him back into the lands of the shades and death. Aldran's mind snaps and overcome with rage calls upon his eldritch wild-magic to summons a flumph! It appears in the air near Myra and briefly startles her. The flumph looks on in terror as it recognizes its summoner, Aldran with a mad grin commands the poor beast to self-destruct. As it dies in an explosion of blue energy it knocks Myra over the railing an onto the middeck next to Nail who promptly slashes her. Atop the foredeck as Aldran prepares to leap to the middeck the last pirate critically bashes Aldran across his head opening deep wounds that pour blood across his face blinding him for two rounds.

Ricfire continues to lay low in the small boat trying to staunch the bleeding from his shoulder. Balmaris climbs partially up the side of the Sea Ghost and now able to see both his companions on deck and in the boat quickly casts healing on Durmnen and Ricfire. He follows up with a spirital hammer to protect Nail who is now engaged in a series of thrusts and parries with Myra who circles him like a cat. The spiritual hammer kills twosailors as they attempt to grapple Nail from behind while Aldran continues to stumble around blindly on the foredeck. Seeing Myra is wounded and hoping to stil claim the 100GP reward for taking her alive, Nail bashes Myra with the hilt of his sword knocking her unconscious. He follows up with an opportunity strike on another pirate climbing the steps who was attempting to sneak up on the disoriented Aldran. Nail yells out for the remaining crew to surrender but they pay no heed as they still outnumber the party and continue to fight on.

Up, up, and away!

Coming to his senses, Aldran snap turns and flinging his blood upon the remaining pirate on the foredeck completely intimidates him who then leaps over the side to avoid Aldran's ire. Seeing the foredeck empty of pirates he jumps down to the main deck and rushes aft towards Punketah to deal with the mage up close and personal. Seeing the enraged barbarian running towards himPunketah casts a spell and takes flight, shooting up into the inky black sky to disappear from view. Hearing the sounds of battle have seemingly died down - Durmen climbs back on board the Sea Ghost and just as he swings his leg over the railing is promptly attacked by Sigurad. Durmen still astride the railing firebolts Siguard who has been mostly unscathed thus far and the flames don't kill him. Durmen is not so lucky as Siguards scimitar slices through Durmens wizard clothing like butter and still not fully healed the blow kills him. Fortunately Durmens body falls backward into the small boat as Nail and Aldran continue to fend off the remaining pirate crew.

Last stand

The smallboat crew look about nervously as Ricfire slowly crawls over to check on Durmen as Balmaris finishes his climb up the side and re-boards the Sea Ghost. On deck Egon breathes shallowly as the shades of death call to him but he feels their grip on his soul loosen (2nd good death save) Aldran is still disoriented from the crack on his skull and with blood in his eyes is unable to hit any of his attackers. Nail standing back to back with Aldran kills one of the three remaining pirates.

Sigurd Sigurd "Snake Eyes" rallies the remainder of the crew to prevent the parties escape to the small boat. Siguard and the remaining crew quickly encircle them as they attempt to press the party back towards the railing and over the side.
