Synopsis

The PC's face the wrath of the Sea Ghost's crew

This Session

Egon and The Empty Net

Balmaris and Ricfire arrive at the Empty Net just in time to see Egons body hit the water. They wade under the pilings and pull the body to shore where Balmaris heals Egon while Ricfire keeps watch. He spots a flickering lamp on the bow of a small whale boat as it passes by carrying the rest of the party out to the Sea Ghost .

Balmaris lights a torch and moving back to the top of the edge of the muddy bank of the bay, waves it frantically gets the attention of Halvor's men in the second long boat. They row over and after some foreboding comments about Balmaris drowning in chainmail they enter the boat and row to the Sea Ghost

Close Combat on the Sea Ghost!

Aldran rushes forward and with a shout - and shoves Bloody Helena over the side! He quickly turns and cleaves the sailor nearly in two with a mighty blow, his guts begin bubbling out. With smile he shoves the pirate backward, flipping him end over end while he stomps on the sailors intestines. The pirate bounces like a bloody yo-yo hitting the side of the Sea Ghost just above the waterline. Nail looks on the barbaric scene with disgust and cuts the intestines and the body drops to the water

A Sirens Song

Aldran completely unfazed by the gore, turns aside before listening briefly at the door hears a rhythmic sound and stooping low moves into forward storeroom. An unfamiliar sound greets his ears and searching for it he finds its coming from the porthole. Peering out the porthole he could swear he spots a beautiful mermaid beckoning him to join her. Shaking his head to clear the vision he allows himself a smile of some memory long past which quickly fades as he spots Bloody Helena climbing through a porthole on the lower deck. Irritated he begins looking for a way down to the lower deck and spots an interior door baring his way which he throws open and charges through. Less sure of himself, Durmen follows Aldran through the cabins looking for valuables and more importantly the likely armed crew.

Reinforcements Arrive

Perhaps five minutes pass before Balmaris, Egon, and Ricfire pull up alongside the other longboat and struggle to crossover to the Sea Ghost as the waters churn. Egon and Ricfire nearly end up in the Solonor Ocean as one wave rocks the small boat hard knocking them backward into the boat. Balmaris stumbles across and finally makes it aboard the Sea Ghost just in time to see Durmen cast a firebolt that lights up the sailor who collapses in a burning heap setting the deck afire. Nail quickly stomps out the fire of the sailor but mangles the body with his armored feet.

Moments later Balmaris is joined on deck by Egon and Ricfire who take up positions on the landward side of the Sea Ghost while Balmaris steps into the hatchway towards the sounds of Aldran down to the lower deck. Their eyes struggle to adjust to the blackness and their bodies are unsteady due to the movement of the deck.

Prepare to Repel Boarders, All hands on Deck!

As the Aldran and Durmen rummage through the forward cabins, Balmaris, Egon, Nail, and Ricfire are taken by surprise as Myra and her cutthroats emerge en-masse from the aft hatches - pouring out on the deck shouting angrily 'no quarter' and 'kill the lan lubbers'!

The pirates rush the party with blades drawn swinging wildly. Regaining their senses Balmaris attacks Fritof with a crossbow as Ricfire attacks a sailor with a bow. Nail nearly slips and falls due to the gooey remnants of the sailor stuck on his feet and all over the deck but he moves aft towards the pirate crew sword in hand.

Don't Make Me Angry...

As Balmaris, Egon, Nail, and Ricfire melee with their attackers Puketah on the poop deck casts lightening bolt on Balmaris & Ricfire. The bolt skewers them both, charring their skin narrowly missing the pirates in front of them and arcs past them tearing up a portion of the deck behind them. The air smells of ozone, burnt hair, flesh, and wood as the deck begins to smoulder. Shocked by the spell, Balmaris shouts out 'were overmatched, retreat!'

Moments later a sailor breaks free from the mass of pirates, scimitar waving madly and kills Ricfire (again it seems) with a single brutal cut, lobbing off his sword-arm in the process. The useless limb thuds to the deck, as moments later his limp and lifeless body follows suite. A second pirate tries to rush past Balmaris to leap upon Egon but Balmaris catches him with a brutal swing of his mace both mid-stride and to his forehead sending him reeling to the deck and nearly over the side.

We're All Friends Here...

Egon quickly fires off a charm spell at a nearby cutthroat, the pirates dull intelict is no match for Egons spell and within moments he is enraptured by Egon. Stepping 'boldly' from behind Aldran and the nearby cabin door - Durmen casts ice knife on Myrna and misses! The blast strikes her and the group of cutthroats surrounding her severely wounding them. Durmen then ducks back behind the door to consider his next move.

No Walking the Plank for Balmaris...

Punketah fires a firebolt at Nail but misses, and ducks back behind the railing to consider his next move. Seeing Balmaris occupied, one of the pirates rushes Balmaris from behind and crouching low grabs him by the lower legs and with a powerful upsweeping motion, knocks Balmaris feet out from under him flipping him over the side and into the Ocean! Unfortunately for the pirate, his momentum carries him right over the side with Balmaris and they both land with a splash.

The charmed pirate looks upon the battle with dismay and shouts out 'Stop!, These are my friends!' and savagely attacks Fritof who is unprepared for the assault by one of his own crew! Fritof misses on the riposte and the two sailors circle each other like cats, swords drawn, with murder in their eyes.

Nail and the Lillputtins...

On the other side of the boat Nail gets knocked over and stunned by two burley sailors and pinned violently to the deck. Their hands working quickly from years of experience working aloft they begin trussing him up, completely immobilizing him in ropes. Moments later with a loud "Oi He's a eavy one he is!" they heft him up onto their shoulders like a hog for a roast.

At the Forecastle...

Egon spots Myra deftly moving forward though the wild melee on the main deck towards he and Aldran's position. He casts spores while trying to hit Myra with his quarterstaff just as she charges him trying to break his spell concentration. Aldran rages to defend him, hitting her with his axe as he unleashes his pent up wild magic. As the energy coalesces around him he grimly notes half of the party is already dead or incapacitated and the rest are severely injured.
