Session 110 Deer arent the only creatures who rut in the woods

Synopsis[edit source]
The party and their female companions make their way to the alchemist mansion outside of town.
This Session[edit source]
The party makes their way past the tavern and follows a winding road along the west edge of town on their way to the north gate. Egon hears the sounds of a bard telling a story and the rummer of a crowd coming from a large walled manor house. Liza and Julia mention its a private dwelling known to host parties with excellent entertainment. At this Aldran grabs his dates by the hands and moves quickly to join the party.A s they approach the complex of buildings two guards step from the shadows barring entrance.
Party crashers - denied!
When asked by the guards who they area, Aldram stammers out "Bronan the barbarian" along with "Meatsack the wise" and their entourage. He attempts to bluff his way past the guards by saying they are on the guest list at which point one of which goes inside to check his claim. Shortly thereafter a well dressed bulter appears with all the haughtiness of a nobles butler says they cannot find their reservation, and to move along. Bronan intimidates the butler who says he'll check again, and after a few more minutes of impatient waiting Lord Solomor comes out flanked by two crossbowmen who remain hidden in the shadows.
Lord Solomor recognizes Liza and realizes this group is clearly not highborn if they are accompanied by ladies from the Empty Net Tavern. He assures them he will consider them for an audition (mistaking them for traveling entertainers) if they register their request through proper channels at the merchants guild during daytime. After engaging in some aristocratic verbal combat (AKA diplomatic insults) and nervous encouragement to "leave it be" from Durmen, Egon, and the ladies Broman, Meatscak and their entourage stomp off but not before Browman hacks a lugi on Solomors nice leather boot. Solomor fails to see or hear the lugi splat on him, but one of the junior guards gives Broman a quick smirk of approval before turning quickly to follow Solomor back inside the manor house.
The group continues their merrymaking and some time later arrive on the grounds of the alchemists house.
The girls earn their money
Liza takes advantage of the moment and runs off giggling toward the front of the house with Aldran in hot pursuit. She waits near the corner of the house and they begin making out.
Ricfire and Balmaris both try to kick open an old weather beaten and clearly locked side door but fail. Durmen attempts to pick the lock and is attacked by some kind of worm like parasite that quickly burrows into is hand and heads up his arm. He skewers it with his dagger killing it and cuts it free from his arm.
While the rest of the party look for a way inside the house Egon and his date allow their natural instincts to take control. Egon initiates a drudic mating ritual resembling a deer rutting as the rest of the group turns hastily away wether from embarrassment or just disgust to continue their serach for an entrance.

Mending and entering
Durmen taking note of the rotted woods similar appearance to that of the prior door "mends" the exterior door handle and it open easily allowing the party entry into the hosue.
Aldran, Durmen, and Egon begin exploring the ground floor while Balmaris and Ricfire head upstairs. The girls gather in a group at the entry foyer their anxiety growing as the party splits up to search the house. Aldran and Durmen head down the western hallyway and come upon a locked door to the south. Unable to open it Aldran kicks open the door and finds a moldy library beyond. A quick search turns up three books about transmutaiton of lead to gold which Durmen takes.
Meanwhile upstairs
Ricfire and Balmaris work their way down a hallway and find two rooms. The first has a floor that is clearly at risk of collapse and the move to the second room and discover a man bound and gagged lying on a cot. He notices their entrance and begins squirming and calling out through his gag for what sounds like help clearly trying to get their attenton. They enter the room in haste heading towards the prisoner as the floor collapses sending Ricfire falling to his death as the oaken beams and remnants of the floor above crush him. Balmaris manages to keep his footing and swings down onto remnants of the floor, hanging on briefly before dropping to the floor below next to the body of Ricfire.
Meanwhile downstairs
Upon hearing the collaspe of the building to the east the rest of the party regathers in the entry foyer. Shouting out for Balmairs and Ricfire they hear Balmaris calling for help in response. The party followed by the girls run down the eastern hallway and come upon Balmaris picking through the rubble in an attempt to unconver Ricfire. The girls now in a complete panic start crying hysterically while Durmen attempts to calm them down as Egon notes theres someone (the prisoner) upstairs looking down upon them.
The prisoners tale
Balmaris administers first aid and stablizes Ricfire while Egon heads upstairs to deal with the prisoner. After untying him, he learns his name is Greffin and he was taken prisoner the day before by a group of brigands as he saught shelter in the mansion from a passing storm. He's only wearing a pair of dirty underwear and asks the party to help him recover his gear as he gently rubs his ropeburn bruised wrists. Egon cautiously walks him downstairs to the entry foyer and back to the party where they debate their next action.
